Once you’ve created a Facebook Page, you can edit almost anything on it at any time, from your profile photo to your contact information.

If you’re not sure that the category you chose is working for your business, you can change it.

Page Categories: When you first create a Page, you can choose one Page category. These categories help people find your Page, and visitors will see them in your Page’s about section.

If you’re not sure which category to choose, don’t worry. Once you’ve set up your Page and chosen your first category, you can add two more.

Page Templates: When you choose a category, Facebook suggests a template for your Page layout. These templates have tabs and sections designed for your business’s needs. For instance, if you sell dresses online, your Page will use the shopping template by default.

How to Change Your Template?

To change your Page layout, follow these steps:

  1. From your Facebook Page click
  2. select Settings in the top right.
  3. Select Templates and tabs.
  4. In the Templates section, select Edit.

You’ll see a list of templates you can choose. You’ll also see your current template and the template Facebook recommends for you to use.

For more information on the template, select View details. This will walk you through the unique parts of this template.

Now that you have set up your Page, let’s explore some free features that help you connect with new and existing customers and Page fans.

Facebook Page features: What you need to know

Profile Photo: Your profile photo represents your business on Facebook. Ideally, your profile photo is your business logo, so people can associate your Page with your business. Your profile photo appears on the top left of your Page and the top left of each post you create.

To Add A Profile Photo:

  1. Go to your Page.

Hover over the existing profile photo in the top left.

  • Select Update.
  • Select where you would like to import your profile photo from.
  • Choose your profile photo and select Save.

Remember when you choose your profile photo that it will appear inside a circle.

Cover Photo: Your cover photo represents your business on Facebook. We suggest a larger version of your logo or an image unique to your business. Your cover photo appears at the top of your Page.

To add a cover photo:

  1. Go to your Page.

Hover over the existing cover photo.

  • Select Change cover.
  • Select where you would like to import your cover photo from.
  • Choose your cover photo and select Save.

Pages with cover photos tend to get more likes.

Page Username: Every Page has a username. A simple and specific username will make it easier for people to find your business. People can type your username into the search bar after www.facebook.com/Mandavocom to go directly to your Page. Your Page username appears below your profile picture and each time you post.

You can also add your Page username to any stickers or signs you may have for your business.

When you create a username, bear these guidelines in mind:

  1. Only use letters, numbers and periods
  2. No special characters ($%&!)
  3. No generic extensions such as .com or .net
  4. Usernames must be at least five characters long
  5. Full stops and capital letters don’t differentiate usernames

Call-to-action button: A call-to-action (or CTA) button is a way to get people who visit your Page to take an action.

For example, call-to-action buttons can encourage people to:

book appointments;

contact your business directly via chat, email or phone; download an app; and, buy something.

About Section: The About section of your Page allows you to share business details, such as contact information and opening hours, and to tell customers what you have to offer. This description will also appear in search results when people search for your business online.
